Myomectomy

A myomectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove uterine fibroids—noncancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus—while preserving the uterus itself.

What it treats

Myomectomy is typically recommended if fibroids are causing:

  • Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding

  • Pelvic pain or pressure

  • Frequent urination

  • Fertility problems or pregnancy complications

Fibroids themselves are medically called Uterine fibroids.

Type of myomectomy done in-office

Hysteroscopic myomectomy

  • No external incision

  • Fibroids are removed through the vagina and cervix

  • Only works for fibroids inside the uterus

Why choose myomectomy instead of hysterectomy?

Unlike a Hysterectomy, a myomectomy:

  • Preserves the uterus

  • Keeps the possibility of pregnancy

  • Maintains normal hormonal function
